A team up that has always sparked off instant interest - the Selvaraghavan, Dhanush, Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematographer Arvind Krishna collaboration - has since the beginning of the 2000s churned memorable films. Likewise, it was officially announced a couple of weeks back that the four would be coming back together for a new film, which is being bankrolled by reputed producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu under his V Creations banner. In that light, director Selvaraghavan took to his Twitter page to inform fans that the shooting of his upcoming film, tentatively titled S12, has officially kicked off on Tuesday.

Selvaraghavan tweeted, "And back to my world! #S12 A SELVARAGHAVAN FILM @dhanushkraja @thisisysr @theVcreations @Arvindkrsna". The blockbuster filmmaker wearing a mask also shared a photo from the shooting spot of the new film, where he is seen calling the shots and looking at a TV monitor with the camera frame set on a jeep. Shortly thereafter, Kalaipuli S. Thanu too wrote on his Twitter page, "It is with infinite happiness and joy for me to join hands with the revered director Selvaraghavan, who has cemented his place in the hearts of the people with his memorable classics", while tagging Dhanush and Yuvan Shankar Raja as well.

The upcoming film marks the fifth occasion Selvaraghavan is working with Dhanush after their previous films Thulluvadho Ilamai, Kaadhal Kondein, Pudhupettai, Yaaradi Nee Mohini and Mayakkam Enna. Among these ventures, Selvaraghavan had not directed, but had penned the screenplay for Thulluvadho Ilamai and Yaaradi Nee Mohini. All of these films featured Yuvan Shankar Raja's chart-busters, with fans waiting for a long time for their new film to come to fruition. As of now, no other cast and crew members have been revealed on the Selva-Dhanush new movie, which is expected to continue to shoot well into the year.

It is to be noted that Dhanush is working under producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu's V Creations banner for the third time after 2019's blockbuster Asuran directed by National Award-winning director Vetri Maaran. Dhanush's Karnan directed by Pariyerum Perumal fame Mari Selvaraj wrapped up filming last month and has been produced by the acclaimed producer-distributor. Expectations for the Selva-Dhanush new movie have been massive considering the duo also on the occasion of New Year dropped the bombshell announcement that they will be coming together next once again and for the highly-anticipated Aayirathil Oruvan 2
