Last week, Samantha made an official announcement informing everyone that she has separated from her husband and actor Naga Chaitanya. The news created a huge buzz on social media, taking people by shock. Due to undisclosed reasons, the couple decided to part ways and they requested the media to respect their privacy. However, there were several unauthentic reports and rumours which speculated various theories as to the reason for the couple's divorce. Reacting to all the rumours and speculations, Samantha has issued a statement in which she has requested everyone to give her the time to heal from the process. She also thanked the ones who have supported and stood by her side in this issue.

Samantha's official statement read, "Your emotional investment into a personal crisis has overwhelmed me. Thank you all for showing deep empathy, concern and for defending me against false rumours and stories that are being spread. They say I had affairs, never wanted children, that I am an opportunist and now that I have had abortions. A divorce in itself is an extremely painful process. Let alone allowing me the time to heal. This attack on me personally, has been relentless. But I promise you this, I will never allow this or anything else they say, break me".

Samantha, on the professional front, was last seen in the Amazon Prime Video web series, The Family Man 2 which starred Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role. Samantha played the antagonist in the series and her performance received rave reviews. Up next, Samantha will be seen playing one of the female leads in Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal which is directed by Vignesh Shivan. Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara play the other leads in this romantic comedy which is currently in the post production stages.
