S. J. Suryah's next big film as a hero is the romantic thriller Bommai, which is out in theatres starting today. Directed by Radhamohan, who is best known for Mozhi (2007) and Abhiyum Naanum (2008), the film featuring music by Yuvan Shankar Raja is coming out amidst quite a lot of expectations despite wrapping up production in early 2020. S. J. Suryah, who is sharing screen space with Priya Bhavani Shankar once again after Monster (2019), recently opened up on returning to direction during an interview with National Award-winning film critic Baradwaj Rangan, the Editor-in-Chief of Galatta Plus.

S. J. Suryah said, "I'm going to do a film called Killer. It'll be a film in which I will be directing myself. All the pre-production works are almost done." He explained that he will begin filming Killer after completing his ongoing acting commitments in films like Vishal's Mark Antony, director Karthik Subbaraj's Jigarthanda DoubleX alongside Raghava Lawrence, and the Tamil-Telugu bilingual Game Changer starring Ram Charan under Shankar's direction. S. J. Suryah, who also revealed that he is part of a special project for which he will begin filming this October, further stated that he will complete his acting commitments by April 2024 after which he will proceed to directing Killer. It is to be noted that Bommai actress Priya Bhavani Shankar in an interview with Galatta spoke about S. J. Suryah's casting in 'Ulaganaygan' Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 in which she too will be seen in a key role.

The last time S. J. Suryah directed a film was Isai (2015) and the news of the filmmaker making a comeback to direction with Killer will no doubt leave his ardent fans everywhere mighty happy. A prolific name in Tamil cinema, the Bommai actor made heads turn with the blockbusters he directed starting with the Ajith Kumar and Simran-starrer Vaali (1999) and Kushi (2000) with 'Thalapathy' Vijay and Jyotika. S. J. Suryah then surprised everyone by making his hero debut in New (2004) and followed it up with Anbe Aaruyire (2005), which went on to become smash hits at the box office.
