RJ Balaji is gearing up to present his third directorial, Veetla Vishesham, which will open in theatres worldwide on June 17. Produced under Boney Kapoor's Bayview Projects LLP banner in association with Zee Studios, the upcoming family comedy-drama is an official remake of the smash hit 2018 Bollywood film, Badhaai Ho, and marks the second time the radio jockey turned actor-filmmaker has co-directed a film with NJ Saravanan after their LKG (2019) and Mookuthi Amman (2020) and expectations are quite high based on the buzz on social media and in the film trade. With promotions for Veetla Vishesham underway, RJ Balaji recently sat down for an exclusive interview with National Award-winning film critic Baradwaj Rangan, the Editor-in-Chief of Galatta Plus, and opened up about his entry into Tamil cinema, while also sharing details about his meeting with ace director Mani Ratnam for a role in his Kaatru Veliyidai starring Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead roles.
