Leading Malayalam actor Dulquer Salmaan's next big film, King of Kotha, wrapped filming on Tuesday, February 21. Directed by debutant Abhilash Joshy and being produced by Dulquer's Wayfarer Films in association with Zee Studios, a fun video has been released from the sets of the upcoming gangster drama film in Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, showing the actor looking tanned in a black shirt and matching pants, with his hair combed to the back, while sporting a thick stubble, and saying the dialogue, "Finish me, if you can", and then breaking into a smile and joining in on the celebrations with the entire crew amidst a grand fireworks display.
Announced in 2021, King of Kotha will be coming out as a pan-Indian release in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada languages, on the festive occasion of Onam in August this year and will feature Dulquer Salmaan in a never-seen-before avatar. The film has a story and screenplay written by Abhilash N. Chandran and expectations have been massive ever since it went on floors in last September. King of Kotha marks Zee Studios' debut in Malayalam cinema and was also shot in in Rameswaram and Ramanathapuram.
King of Kotha will see Dulquer paired with Aishwarya Lekshmi, who has become a youth sensation in Tamil Nadu after portraying Poonguzhali in Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan: 1, while also playing the female lead in Vishnu Vishal's Gatta Kusthi. The film also stars several notable Malayalam cinema names among whom include Shabeer Kallarakkal, Gokul Suresh, Chemban Vinod Jose, Shammi Thilakan, Nyla Usha, Shanthi Krishna, Sudhi Koppa, Senthil Krishna, and Rajesh Sharma, while Tamil actors Prasanna and Vada Chennai fame Saran Shakthi joined the cast in key roles, while Ritika Singh is making a cameo appearance in a song.
