Vijay Sethupathi made his Hindi digital debut in the black comedy crime thriller web series Farzi, which began streaming on February 10 on Amazon Prime Video. The 8-episode series directed by The Family Man fame Raj & DK duo also stars Shahid Kapoor, Kay Kay Menon, Raashii Khanna, Regina Cassandra, Bhuvan Arora, Chittaranjan Giri, Zakir Hussain, among others and has been receiving a strong positive feedback from audiences and critics since its premiere a few days back. With Farzi streaming now on Prime Video, one aspect caught the eye of one too many as there were several hints dropped about a possible spy universe connection between the series and Manoj Bajpayee's The Family Man.
On Saturday, February 18, Amazon Prime Video released a new special promo for Farzi, but with Manoj Bajpayee making an appearance as Srikant Tiwari from The Family Man, who is seen examining a currency note closely before he looks into the camera and says, "Have to be sure these days whether it’s real or fake. This note has given my friend Michael sleepless nights." Srikant then does a recap of the three main characters in Farzi, Sunny (Shahid Kapoor), Mansoor Dalal (Kay Kay Menon), and Michael (Vijay Sethupathi), but gets interrupted by a call from Chellam sir, played by The Family Man actor Udhayabhanu Maheshwaran, who also makes a cameo appearance in Farzi.
The Farzi promo then shifts to Srikant Tiwari name-dropping his associate JK, who is played by Sharib Hashmi on The Family Man. The video ends with Manoj Bajpayee informing viewers that his character's team would have cracked the Farzi case in no time if it was given to them, while also asking the viewers what they had to say at the suggestion. This latest hint from Prime Video has once again added to the speculations and debate that Farzi and The Family Man are part of a bigger spy universe and it remains to be seen if characters of both these shows meet each other at some point in the future.
