'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan was the chief guest at Silambarasan TR's Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu audio launch held at Vels University in Chennai on Friday, September 2. Directed by Gautham Menon under Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh's Vels Film International banner and featuring music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman, the grand event was held in the presence of more than 5,000 fans, with the trailer of the gangster venture closing the curtains to the evening. In that light, one of the biggest highlights of the Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu audio launch was the star cast and crew in attendance, including several other big names also gracing the occasion like actors Jiiva, RJ Balaji, Yogi Babu, Vikram Prabhu, and Raashii Khanna. That being said, a memorable moment at the event yesterday evening was when Kamal Haasan had given his first confirmation about a script being developed for the 2006 blockbuster Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu

During the Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu audio launch, host RJ Mirchi Vijay asked Kamal Haasan about Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu 2, with the veteran actor informing that a script is needed for the project to commence. Kamal Haasan said, "Gautham Menon had shared an idea for Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu 2 a couple of years back. I had asked him to finish the complete script and come back to me. We both want the story to be done." Responding to Kamal Haasan, Gautham Menon said, "Your favorite writer Jeyamohan sir is writing the script, sir. It will reach you soon." The playful interaction ending on this big revelation left everyone at the VTK audio launch mighty surprised, with fans delivering thunderous applause.

This first confirmation from Kamal Haasan and Gautham Menon about Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu 2's script and the inclusion of acclaimed Tamil writer Jeyamohan in the project, who has also penned the story for the upcoming Simbu-starrer, is no doubt a big start and fans will be looking forward to the film going on floors soon. As for Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, the film being released in Tamil Nadu by Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies banner is the third time STR, Gautham Menon, and A. R. Rahman have collaborated after their Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010) and Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada (2016), and the trio will be looking to hit the bullseye when the film opens in cinemas worldwide on September 15.
