Leading Tamil music director Yuvan Shankar Raja will be bestowed with an honorary doctorate by Sathyabama University on September 3, 2022  at 10 a.m. The chart-buster composer will be honored at the Sathyabama campus for his contributions to Tamil cinema over the course of his illustrious two-and-a-half-decade career in several languages. Yuvan will be presented the honorary doctorate at the Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (deemed to be university) 31st Convocation Ceremony, while a total of 2,666 graduates too will be bestowed with their degrees among whom are 2,257 undergraduates, 409 post-graduates, and 143 Ph. D. scholars for their exemplary performance in academics. 

Sathyabama University released an official statement regarding honoring composer Yuvan on Friday, September 2. The statement is as follows: 

"With the blessings of Founder Chancellor Hon. Colonel Dr. Jeppiaar, The 31st Convocation of the Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology will be held on 3rd September, 2022, 10:00 AM at the Institution Auditorium. The convocation will be presided by Chief Guest Dr. G Satheesh Reddy, Secretary, Department of Defence R & D and Chairman, DRDO, Hon. Chancellor Dr. Mariazeena Johnson, President Dr. Marie Johnson. Vice President Ms. Maria Bernadette Arul Selvan, Vice President Mr. J Arul Selvan, Vice President Ms. Maria Catherine Jayapria. 

Honorary Doctorates (Honoris Causa) will be presented to Dr. V. Balaguru, Outstanding Scientist, Associate Director (MBT & TOT) & Project Director (Light Tank) (CVRDE), DRDO contributed in the design and development of Arjun MBT Mk-I and Light Tank He immensely contributed in Design of 5 Major and 25 Minor improved subsystem for Arjun MBT Mk-IA. 

Honorary Doctorate will also be presented to Mr. Yuvan Shankar Raja working as music composer at the age of 16 and composed music for more than 150 films within a span of two and half decades in various languages. 

A total of 2666 graduates are to receive their Degree, 2257 Undergraduates, 409 Postgraduates and 143 Ph. D. scholars will receive their degrees. Among them 23 students will be awarded gold medals for their exemplary performance in academics."

Yuvan, who recently celebrated his birthday on August 31 and completed 25 years in cinema, has several big promising films lined up ahead that include Dhanush's Naane Varuven under Selvaraghavan's direction, the Vishal-starrer Laththi, Sundar. C’s Coffee With Kadhal starring Jiiva and Jai, Santhanam's Agent KannayiramComali director Pradeep Ranganathan's hero debut Love Today, Nivin Pauly's untitled venture directed by Ram, followed by Amitash and Sarathkumar's Paramporul, including Iraivan Miga Periyavan being helmed by Ameer to name a notable few.
