The Tamil Nadu government on Friday, September 2 announced the state awards for the best male and female actors, directors, music directors, movies, and television serials and the list for several other categories for the years 2009 to 2014 will be presented on Sunday, September 4. The Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, which came into inception in 1967, are awarded annually by the state government honoring the best artistes and technicians in the film and TV industry.
The Tamil Nadu State Film Awards will be held at the Kalaivanar Arangam at 5 p.m. and ministers will be gracing the special occasion to present the awards. Cash prizes will be given to the top three film producers starting from Rs. 2 lakh, Rs. 1 lakh, and Rs. 75,000, while the best films will be handed Rs. 75,000. It has been announced that a total of Rs 26.25 lakh will be given to producers and the best films. Furthermore, the best male and female actors and technicians, a total of 160 persons will receive 5 sovereign gold medals each. In addition, the top two TV serial producers will be given Rs 2 lakh and Rs 1 lakh, and a total of 314 persons will be presented with awards that are valued at Rs. 52.75 lakh.
