It has been a week since director Todd Phillips shared the image which potentially announced the green lights for a sequel to his 2019 comic book movie Joker. After much anticipation, fans got the great news from the director himself when he took to social media to post two pictures - the first one is an image of the sequel's script titled Joker: Folie Á Deux and the second is an image of Joaquin Phoenix reading said script.

Following that awesome news, much newer and fresher updates have come to light regarding the potential sequel. With Joaquin Phoenix naturally expected to reprise Arthur Fleck, who’s now become Gotham City’s Clown Prince of Crime, it has now been rumored that writer-director Todd Phillips is in talks that an A-list costar is already being eyed to join Phoenix and the team for Joker 2 as his right hand-lady: Lady Gaga. We all know that the film ended with Joker being admitted to the Arkham Asylum mental institution and we also know that Harley Quinn first meets Mr. J while she was still a psychiatrist enlisted to treat him at Arkham. The latter portion of the film's title translates to “folly of two” or “madness of two". It is a psychiatric syndrome referring to the sharing of delusional beliefs, and sometimes even hallucinations, between two people. This could be an Easter egg hinting at the inclusion of Harley Quinn.

But hold your horses! There is more! The film is touted to be a musical, taking full advantage of Gaga’s singing prowess. Just like how there are countless ways to make a comic book movie, there are countless kinds of movie musicals. Therefore it will be interesting to see how these two genres will compliment each other.

Joker became a two-time Academy Award-winning film after Joaquin Phoenix took home Best Actor honors for his role as Arthur Fleck. Also, Best Original Score was won by Hildur Guðnadóttir.
