Income-Tax raids were conducted at reputed Tamil film producer and business tycoon Xavier Britto's house and office in Chennai on Wednesday. According to reports, the raids have been conducted stating the entrepreneur's export and import company is in connection with a Chinese cell phone manufacturing company. It is also being stated that raids have been carried out at 25 locations related to the company in Chennai and Bengaluru since Monday. Xavier Britto, who is a relative of actor Vijay, also owns educational institutions in the city. No statement has been released yet by the IT officials or Britto's representatives.

Fans know Xavier Britto best for producing Vijay's Master under his XB Film Creators banner, which released earlier this year and turned out to be a box office money-spinner. The action-thriller starring 'Thalapathy' Vijay alongside 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi under Lokesh Kanagaraj's direction and featuring chart-buster music by Rockstar Anirudh Ravichander released in theatres for Pongal after it was delayed for nearly a year due to the lockdown. Master went on to revive the movie-going experience and the Tamil film industry after the pandemic caused a great deal of loss to theatre business in Tamil Nadu.

As for XB Film Creators' next venture, the banner is introducing Xavier Britto's brother-in-law and popular actor Atharvaa's brother Akash in the lead role in an untitled film to be directed by Vishnu Vardhan of Billa and Arrambam fame.  Earlier this year, Britto also launched a new banner, Esthell Entertainer, while also revealing its first production venture titled Azhagiya Kanne, starring pattimandram anchor Dindigul I. Leoni's son Leo Sivakumar in the lead role and Sanchita Shetty cast as the heroine.
