A few days back a section of fans were miffed that Avatar: The Way of Water is not releasing in Kannada. The film instead will be out in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu in 3D and IMAX. This upset many staunch fans, especially the regular supporters of English films dubbed in Kannada. This led to #Avatar2InKannada trending with over 12000 people tweeting about it.

Due to this, Oscar-winning Producer Jon Landau took to social media and shared a heartfelt message for Indian Culture and his fondness towards the country and launches the Kannada trailer of Avatar: The Way Of Water. Sharing the Kannada trailer, he wrote, "Namaste India! I see you. Your diversity continues to amaze me. I am so excited for you to experience #AvatarTheWayOfWater in 6 languages - English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. Let's celebrate the return to Pandora on 16th Dec. Avatar: The Way of Water is an upcoming epic science fiction film directed by James Cameron and produced by 20th Century Studios. It is the second film in Cameron's Avatar franchise, following 2009's Avatar. Cast members Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Giovanni Ribisi, Dileep Rao, and Matt Gerald will reprise their roles from the original film while new cast members include Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, and Brendan Cowell.

The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 16 December 2022, with the following three sequels to be released on 20 December 2024, 18 December 2026, and 22 December 2028 respectively. Made on a budget of a whopping $250 million, it is one of the most expensive films to be made of all time.
