Madhavan will be making his directorial debut with Rocketry: The Nambi Effect and the film will be releasing in theatres on July 1, 2022. Rocketry: The Nambi Effect was officially premiered for the first time at the Cannes Film Festival 2022 which is currently taking place in Cannes, France. The film seems to have received an overwhelming reception from the audiences and the visuals of the standing ovation after the screening is doing good rounds on social media since this morning. Having said that, A.R.Rahman has now shared his thoughts about the film and he has indeed heaped praises on the Madhavan directorial.

Rahman appreciated Madhavan the director for bringing a new change in Indian cinema and also registered his respect for the Indian scientists. Sharing a picture of Madhavan and Nambi Narayanan from the Cannes Film Festival, he tweeted, "Just watched #Rocketrythenambieffect at Cannes .. Take a bow @ActorMadhavan for bringing a new voice to Indian cinema #changeishere #respecttoIndianscientists". Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is based on the life story of ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan who was falsely accused of espionage.

Madhavan essays the character of Nambi Narayanan in this film which has Simran playing the female lead. Produced by Tricolour Films in association with Varghese Motion Pictures, the film has Ravi Raghavendra, Meesha Ghoshal, Jagan, Vincent Riotta, Karthik Kumar, Dinesh Prabhakar, Mohan Raman, and others. Suriya will be seen playing a very interesting cameo in the film, while Shah Rukh Khan will reprise the cameo role in the Hindi version. The film will have music composed by Sam CS, while Sirsha Ray and Bijith Bala would be taking care of the cinematography and editing departments respectively.

Madhavan was last seen in Maara which released at the beginning of last year, opening to fairly positive reviews from the audience. Following the release of Rocketry, Maddy's next film in Tamil will be officially announced and further details are awaited.
