Acclaimed Tamil filmmaker-actor Ameer's next film has been announced and will see him collaborate with National Award-winning director Vetri Maaran, who is penning the dialogues and the screenplay for the upcoming venture. The two had previously worked in Vada Chennai in 2018, which saw the former in a powerful role, with his performance winning him plaudits and massive critical acclaim. The new film will be Ameer's return to film-making after a gap of nine years when he last directed the Jayam Ravi-starrer Aadhi Bhagavan in 2013.

The rest of the cast and crew of the new project is expected to be revealed in the days ahead and will be Ameer's fifth directorial after films like Mounam Pesiyadhe, Raam, Paruthiveeran and, Aadhi Bhagavan. The hit filmmaker was also announced sometime back to be starring in Vetri Maaran's Vaadivaasal starring Suriya and will also be seen in a pivotal role under Adharmam and Pagaivan fame Ramesh Krishnan's new film, which has Arya’s brother Sathya and Sanchita Shetty in the lead roles.

As for Vetri Maaran, he has completed a major chunk of filming for his Viduthalai, which has Tamil comedy actor Soori making his debut as a hero, with 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi playing a crucial role. He is also expected to begin work on his Vaadivaasal being produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu's V Creations banner and will feature music by G. V. Prakash Kumar. Likewise, Vetri Maaran had announced sometime back that he is serving as a showrunner on a web series for ZEE5, which will be based on Jallikattu, with Mandela actress Sheela Rajkumar revealed to be a part of the cast. The Aadukalam director also said that a prequel web series based on the Rajan Vagaira character played by Ameer in Vada Chennai is in the works and will see Asuran fame Ken Karunas in the role. Vetri Maaran had revealed last year that discussions were held with 'Thalapathy' Vijay for a project, while reports later also said that the filmmaker would likely be collaborating with 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan as well.
