The newly released action thriller Valimai, written and directed by H. Vinoth, was released on February 24 with a bang in Tamil Nadu and set a new opening day record. Early reports suggest the film is Ajith's biggest opening ever and the second biggest opening of all time in Tamil cinema trailing behind the 2018 Diwali release of Sarkar. Valimai has opened to mixed reviews, with a large section of fans taking to social media to inform that the film's run time was a tad bit long.

That said, the Valimai team has now decided to trim the run time of the film and have shortened the duration of the film. It has been revealed that the film in Tamil has been cut short by 12 minutes, while the Hindi version has been trimmed by 15 minutes. Along with the 15-minute cut in the Hindi version, it has also been decided that the film's first song 'Nanga Vera Maari' will be removed resulting in a total cut of over 18 minutes. These latest developments in Valimai have been brought into immediate effect since last night's shows (February 25).

Valimai follows Arjun, a police officer, who sets out on a mission to hunt down a gang of violent bikers (Satan's Slave) after they are found involved in drug thefts, chain snatching, and murder. The stunt scenes in the film, especially those including bikes, were phenomenal and done really well. We finally got to see Ajith back on wheels after so long performing his own stunts adding a wow factor to both him and the movie.

The film marks Ajith Kumar's and H. Vinoth's second collaboration after working together in 2019's legal drama Nerkonda Paarvai which also happens to be Ajith's last film before the release of Valimai. Returning 3 years later to the big screen, his presence was immediately noticed and received overwhelming feedback.
