In what has come as a shocking news, a couple of unidentified persons on a motorcycle had thrown a petrol bomb at a popular theatre in Coimbatore that is screening actor Ajith Kumar's Valimai on the early hours of Thursday. According to reports, the incident happened at the Ganga Cine Complex today morning where Valimai was released, The New Indian Express has said. No injuries were reported and an investigation is currently underway by the police to trace the culprits who had thrown the petrol bomb. Photos of the aftermath at the theatre premises are doing the rounds on social media, with fans expressing their shock and disappointment for the incident.

Earlier in the day, there was an incident reported at the Rohini Silver Screens, Koyambedu, in Chennai where Valimai was screening when a glass door in the theatre had broken to pieces due to the physical force and pressure that was exerted. Nikhilesh Surya, the Managing Director of Rohini Silver Screens, also took to social media to share photos of the chairs that were damaged inside the theatre.  

Valimai has been a film fans have been waiting for nearly two years and finally opened in theatres worldwide today after it suffered production delays and postponement in its release due to the pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns. Directed by H. Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor's Bayview Projects LLP banner in association with Zee Studios, the mass action thriller featuring music by Yuvan Shankar Raja has Ajith playing the role of a police officer. Valimai is the second consecutive collaboration for Ajith with H. Vinoth, Boney Kapoor and Yuvan Shankar Raja after their 2019 blockbuster Nerkonda Paarvai. Prior to Valimai's release, Boney Kapoor had teased a glimpse from the upcoming AK 61, which has the producer, Ajith Kumar and H. Vinoth reuniting for the third time.
