The custodial death of Jayaraj and Bennix at Sathankulam in the district of Thoothukudi has created a major outrage on social media and it is one of the hot topics in the state. After a 15-hour long investigation, the Kovilpatti Judicial Magistrate, MS Bharathidaasan, and his team have filed a report that reveals shocking details about the death of the father and son. Surprisingly, a woman police officer (Head Constable) named Revathi was the only one officer who came forward and revealed what exactly happened at the police station that night, while other officers behaved in an intimidating way, including a police officer named Maharajan who reportedly said, “Unnaala Onnum Pudunga Mudiyadhu (You can’t do anything)”.

Thousands of people have come in support of Revathi for standing by the justice and speaking the reality. People have also demanded the higher officials and the Government to provide protection for Revathi and her family members. Many leading celebrities across the state, including Kamal Haasan, appreciated this bold act from Magistrate Bharathidaasan, Head Constable Revathi and others. What came as a surprise for the people is a tweet from acclaimed director Vetri Maaran who raised his voice in support of Revathi and others, who restored people’s faith in justice. He tweeted, “Honourable judges P. N. Prakash, P. Pugazhendhi, magistrate Bharathidasan, courageous Revathi, you’ve given us hope. We stand by you.

This tweet from Vetri Maaran has surprised everyone and has garnered huge attention on social media. Vetri Maaran has posted a tweet after a long gap of more than 2 years and his last tweet was a picture of Periyar which was shared on March 7, 2018. It can be noted that Vetri Maaran didn't post even a single tweet about his dream project, Vada Chennai or his recent blockbuster, Asuran during the time of its release. Having said that, people are impressed that the acclaimed filmmaker stands for justice at the right time. Notably, Vetri Maaran's Visaranai is one of the most hard-hitting films in Tamil cinema that portrayed the reality of police officers. People even cited the similarities between the real life Sathankulam incident and Visaranai's story, including the police brutality.

On the work front, Vetri Maaran has two projects in his kitty. He will first work on his untitled film with Soori and this film will mark the comedian's debut as a protagonist for the first time. This film will be bankrolled by Elred Kumar under the banner of R.S.Infotainment. Post the completion of this film, Vetri Maaran will move onto his next mega biggie, Vaadivaasal, that will star Suriya in the lead role. Produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu's V Creations, Vaadivaasal will have music scored by G.V.Prakash who is in a wonderful form as a composer. Check out Vetri Maaran’s tweet here:
