One of the most celebrated films in actor Dhanush’s career, Vada Chennai, released last year was helmed by National Award-winning director Vetrimaaran under the Wunderbar Films banner. Featuring an electrifying background score and songs by Santhosh Narayanan, the action gangster crime drama was announced to be the first installment in what is a planned trilogy with Dhanush himself a few days back issuing an official statement that Vada Chennai 2 is definitely on. That said, actor and director Samuthirakani during an interview with Galatta for his upcoming film, Kolanji, revealed, “My character, Guna, will be getting killed towards the end of Vada Chennai 2 as a result of a revenge attack,”.

Samuthirakani further added, “My appearance in Vada Chennai 3 depends on director Vetrimaaran and his own plans for the character. As of now, I don’t know when the shooting for Vada Chennai 2 will begin, but I will be present whenever he calls me. Even if he calls me tomorrow, I will stop all my other works and head to the shooting spot,”.

During the audio launch of the first film last year, it was revealed that around 20 percent of Vada Chennai 2 had already been shot, before Dhanush and director Vetrimaaran shifted gears to work on their upcoming project, Asuran, coming out in October. It now remains to be seen when the second installment will commence filming considering Dhanush has a packed lineup in the days ahead that include films with directors RS Durai Senthilkumar, Karthik Subbaraj, Pariyerum Perumal filmmaker Mari Selvaraj, Ramkumar of Ratsasan fame and a venture with his own brother, Selvaraghavan.
