Silambarasan TR's Maanaadu has been one film fans have been waiting to watch on the big screen for a long time after it went on floors in early 2020 before being first officially announced in mid-2018. Announced to hit screens as a grand Diwali treat this November, the upcoming Venkat Prabhu directorial featuring music by Yuvan Shankar Raja is coming out under the V House Productions banner, with producer Suresh Kamatchi revealing on Friday that Maanaadu's Malaysian theatrical rights have been bagged by Dato Mohamed Yusoff's DMY Creation. 

The news of Maanaadu's Malaysia theatrical rights being acquired by DMY Creation was also shared by director Venkat Prabhu, who earlier dropped a word on the film's trailer. On Friday evening, one fan tagged Venkat Prabhu while sharing the first mass visual glimpse of 'Thala' Ajith's Valimai and queried about whether Simbu fans too can expect something similar in Maanaadu next. In response, the Chennai 600028 films and Mankatha filmmaker informed fans that they have a great treat lined up next in the form of the Maanaadu trailer, which will be released soon. A few days back, Venkat Prabhu during an interaction on Twitter shared his excitement for the Maanaadu trailer and tagged the film's editor Praveen K. L. for whom it is his 100th film, while stating that the National Award winner's expertise was visible in the cuts. 

Maanaadu is Silambarasan and Venkat Prabhu's first full-length collaboration after the flamboyant star made a cameo appearance in Goa in 2010. Expectations for the mass masala political entertainer are huge and will see STR playing the role of a Muslim, with his character's name revealed to be Abdul Khaaliq. Apart from Simbu, Maanaadu's multi-star cast also includes Kalyani Priyadarshan as the female lead, followed by SJ Suryah, Karunakaran, Premgi Amaren, Manoj Bharathiraja, Daniel Annie Pope, Y. Gee. Mahendra and veteran directors SA Chandrasekhar and Bharathiraja in pivotal roles.
