Silamabarasan TR has been the talk of the town for a while now, especially after his stunning physical transformation and the subsequent quick completion of his upcoming film, Eeswaran, under Susienthiran's direction in a span of less than 45 days. With Eeswaran announced to be a Pongal 2021 release, there has also been a massive wave of excitement for Simbu's Maanaadu, which flagged off production earlier this year in February after being announced in mid-2018. Touted to be a mass masala political entertainer, STR has now resumed filming Maanaadu being directed by Venkat Prabhu under Suresh Kamatchi's V House Production banner.

Simbu, who plays the role of a Muslim character named Abdul Khaaliq in Maanaadu, has joined the film's third schedule in Pondicherry on Monday after a short break from shooting Eeswaran, which wrapped production last week, with the flamboyant star also completing his dubbing. Featuring music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, Maanaadu is a multi-starrer and includes Kalyani Priyadarshan playing the female lead, followed by SJ Suryah, Karunakaran, Premgi Amaren, Manoj Bharathiraja, Daniel Annie Pope, Y. Gee. Mahendra and veteran directors SA Chandrasekhar and Bharathiraja in major supporting roles. The film also has a talented technical crew among whom are Richard M. Nathan for the cinematography, Praveen K. L. for the editing, Rajeevan for the production design, action choreography by 'Stunt' Silva and costume designs by Vasuki Bhaskar.

The Maanaadu team has also brought in Siddha specialist Dr. Veerababu to be a part of the ongoing schedule to monitor the COVID-19 situation. The makers have taken all necessary precautions for the entire team and are carrying out the shooting as per the government's protocols. The current schedule is said to be a long one and is expected to last for around 40 days, with the team planning to wrap up a chunk of filming. It is to be noted that prior to the nationwide lockdown, which brought an indefinite halt to production on films across the country, the Maanaadu crew had shot a large portion, that included a song featuring Chennai 600028 II actress Anjena Kirti. We can expect the team to complete a substantial amount of shooting on Maanaadu by the time of the New Year and an announcement on the film's release date thereafter.
