The highly anticipated trailer of the Netflix anthology, Paava Kadhaigal is now out and it looks really promising. Paava Kadhaigal is an anthology consisting of four short stories directed by four eminent filmmakers - Gautham Vasudev Menon, Vetri Maaran, Sudha Kongara and Vignesh Shivan. The film will deal with the common theme of honour killing. Looking at the trailer, one can confidently say that Paava Kadhaigal will be an intense film with strong emotions that would impact you deep inside.

Director Vetri Maaran's portion features Sai Pallavi and Prakash Raj in the lead roles and it is a relationship between a father and his daughter, who is pregnant. Gautham Menon and Simran play the leads in GVM's directorial which is expected to deal with the teenage love. From what we see in the trailer, it looks like the film's core happens to be the love between Gautham Menon's daughter and Aadithya Baaskar. Sudha Kongara's portion is expected to play around the problems that arise on the grounds of religion. Vignesh Shivan's portion will deal with a lesbian relationship and Anjali and Kalki Koechlin play the lead pair.

It is good to see these mainstream directors taking up very sensitive topics to talk through the film medium and when it is streamed through a premium platform like Netflix, the message is going to reach a wider audience. The trailer has enough moments to keep you hooked. However, at the same time, one might feel if the trailer gave away a few things through some shots. The final shot of the trailer where Simran pushes her own daughter from a mountain shakes you up and it tells you that Paava Kadhaigal is definitely not going to be an easy watch.

Kalidas Jayaram's makeover looks very interesting and he garners good attention in this trailer. Simran, Prakash Raj and Sai Pallavi also make a good impact. Sai Pallavi, in one of her interviews, said that Paava Kadhaigal took a toll on her mental health and it was difficult for her to come out of the mood after the shot. Such was the impact for the actors who were part of this film.

The audience will get to witness these four gut-wrenching stories on Netflix from December 18. As we are just two weeks away from seeing Paava Kadhaigal, catch the newly released trailer here:
