Cricket fans are having a gala time as the sport has come back to the grounds after quite a hiatus due to the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic. The biggest carnival in Indian Cricket - the Indian Premier League was held in UAE and following that, the Indian squad left for Australian shores, where a full series including Tests, ODIs and T20s is underway! However, the series did not start off on a great note for Indian fans, as the Indian team lost both the first 2 ODIs and had given up the series win to Australia. Today, the 3rd ODI, albeit a dead rubber, was played but India were playing for pride and it showed on the field. Luck too favoured the Men in Blue, as Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to bat first. Unfortunately for India, the top-order batting still seemed to be under the influence of the first two matches, despite the young Shubman Gill coming in to partner Dhawan at the top!

Virat Kohli had gotten to a very fluent start and had notched up his second successive half-century but Wickets falling at the other end had dried up boundaries for him for over 50 balls and he fell trying to up the ante. India went to be 5 Wickets down by the 32nd over and were looking at a sub-standard total on a batting pitch. Ravindra Jadeja joined Hardik Pandya and the two mavericks put on a massive 150-run unbroken stand in 18 overs to take India to a very respectable 302. Pandya made a career best 92* off just 76 balls while Jadeja raised 66* off 50 balls. Ashton Agar picked up 2 Wickets while Hazlewood, Sean Abbott and Adam Zampa picked up 1 each. Left arm seamer T Natarajan, who had a dream IPL had gotten his maiden cap in this match and he showed his calibre by picking India's first Wicket in the Powerplay, in this entire series. Warner, out with an injury, was missed at the top but the Aussie captain Finch was continuing in the same fine nick he has been in, from the start of the series!

Shardul Thakur, another bowler who had a good IPL, got two quick Wickets, dismissing the dangerous Steve Smith and Moises Henriques before they could settle in. It was the turn of Jadeja the bowler to come to the fore as he got Finch for a well-played 75 off just 82 balls! Kuldeep Yadav came on to take out Green to a wonderful catch, this time the amazing fielding skills of Jadeja coming into play! At the end of 31 Overs, Australia were 158/5, almost in the same position as India were in but with far more batting depth that the Men in Blue. Alex Carey and the dangerous dynamite Glenn Maxwell began building a strong partnership, which was eventually broken when a combined effort by Kohli and Keeper Rahul took out the former with a run-out. Nattu's good day with the ball was ruined by Maxwell with a 17-run over, which nearly got Australia to striking distance of the win and the required rate was almost down to run-a-ball. However, Bumrah, the wily death-overs specialist decided to came to the party, as he got Maxi bowled! It was upto Ashton Agar to see Australia through but Thakur, Nattu and Bumrah were too good for the Aussie tailenders and wrapped up the innings by taking all the remaining Wickets to seal a 13-run win for India! Australia went on to win the ODI series 2-1! India and Australia will now head on to the T20 series, which is starting on December 4th! Stay tuned for the reports from these matches too!
