Goa Police registered a case against model-actor Milind Soman on Friday for allegedly promoting obscenity after he posted a picture of himself on his social media pages showing him running naked a beach in Goa. The case against the 55-year-old was filed two days after his birthday by the political outfit Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM), a police official said in a statement. "Milind Soman has been booked under IPC section 294 (obscene act in public place) and section 67 of the Information and Technology Act after the complaint by Goa Suraksha Manch," Superintendent of Police (South Goa) Pankaj Kumar Singh said.

Milind Soman's picture of running naked on a beach was taken by his wife Ankita Konwar. In their complaint, Goa Suraksha Manch leveled allegations against the model stating he had indulged in promoting "obscenity at a public place". Their complaint also cited that the picture was projecting Goa in bad light. Milind is known among Tamil cinema fans for starring in the Sarath Kumar and Jyothika starrer, Pachaikili Muthucharam, including roles in Karthi's Paiyaa and Alex Pandian. 

It is to be noted that the recent picture posted by Milind Soman isn't the first occasion the model has been photographed naked as he posed nude for a Tuff Shoes print ad along with former Miss India Madhu Sapre, which landed them both, including the photographer and the publisher in trouble. A case was registered then as well, which went on for 14 years before all involved were acquitted. 

Post Milind Soman's picture going viral on social media, many users both complimented him for his fitness, while many criticized him for his actions. The photo raised a big question among social media users after actor-model Poonam Pandey and her husband Sam Bombay were earlier arrested for allegedly trespassing on government property to shoot an "objectionable" video at a dam in Canacona town in South Goa. The arrest of Poonam created a heated debate with many pointing out the differences in the rules for men and women for indulging in a similar act. 

Filmmaker Apurva Asrani had earlier cited the difference in the manner netizens reacted to the images of Milind Soman and Poonam Pandey. "#PoonamPandey & #MilindSoman both stripped down to their birthday suits in #Goa recently. Pandey partly, Soman completely. Pandey is in legal trouble--for obscenity. Soman is being lauded for his fit body at age 55. I guess we are kinder to our nude men than to our nude women", he wrote on Twitter.
