Actor-politician Kamal Haasan has been shuffling his time between his stint on the hit reality TV show Bigg Boss Tamil season 4, his film commitments and in politics as well. The veteran actor, who launched his Makkal Needhi Maiam political party in early 2018, put up a good showing in the 2019 Indian general election despite his candidates losing their deposit in all the seats they had contested. Kamal Haasan had expressed his satisfaction at the results and stated then that they had left an impression among the minds of the people, while adding that MNM would come back stronger in the upcoming 2021 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election.

With the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections scheduled to take place in May 2021, many parties are making preparations for their campaigning, with Kamal Haasan too actively expressing his views on the current political situation in the state. In that light, Kamal has now released a video on the importance of voter's ID and casting votes in the upcoming election. We see Kamal explaining that the biggest honour for any Indian citizen upon reaching the age of 18 is them getting their voter's ID. He goes on to say that many warriors who show their flair on the keyboard and find fault with the system do not hold a voter's ID.

Kamal Haasan then informs in the video that the Indian Election Commission on November 21, 22 or December 12, 13 has made arrangements for people to visit their nearest polling station and attend the special camps for verification of voter ID details. He further cites the instance where in the recently-concluded Bihar elections a candidate lost by 12 votes. He adds that votes from homemakers decided who won there. Kamal then states that the people are not voting for someone else, but for themselves. The acclaimed actor also states that people need to follow the slogan - "I will change. I will vote". Kamal concludes saying that the real transformation for our society is when all the people unite to vote.

On the film front, Kamal Haasan will soon be kicking off work on Vikram under his Raaj Kamal Films International banner to be directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj of the upcoming 'Thalapathy' Vijay starrer Master. He is also expected to resume Indian 2 with director Shankar along with carrying forward his commitments on Bigg Boss Tamil season 4. In addition, Kamal had also last year announced an untitled film, which will include music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman.
