Blockbuster Bollywood director Ali Abbas Zafar started 2021 on a mighty happy note as he shared a photo from his wedding to his bride Alicia, in a quiet ceremony. The Sultan director captioned his Instagram as "Mine for life", while also referring to the story of Fatima, a daughter of Prophet Muhammad, and her husband Ali. Ali Abbas Zafar wrote, "1400 years ago Imam Ali said to Fatimah Al- Zahra's, all my worries and sadness disappears. When I look at your face, I feel the same Alicia Zafar". Soon after, wishes began pouring in from top-tier Hindi film industry celebrities who include Ananya Panday, Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani and others. Earlier on Monday, Ali Abbas Zafar posted a picture of entwined hands of his and Alicia's, with the caption, "Bismillah." In the photo, Alicia's hand can be seen decorated with bridal jewellery. Actress Katrina Kaif, who is a close friend and a frequent collaborator in the director's films, congratulated the newly-married couple, with Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh too conveying his wishes. A screenwriter and producer as well, Ali Abbas Zafar, made his debut in 2010 with rom-com Mere Brother Ki Dulhan starring Katrina Kaif and Imran Khan. He then went on to direct the smash box office hit Gunday with Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in 2014 after which he hit the jackpot in 2016 with the nationwide blockbuster Sultan. The sports drama featuring Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma became one of the biggest box office successes for the superstar after which the two teamed up again for Tiger Zinda Hai in 2017 and Bharat in 2019. 

Ali Abbas Zafar's last film was the Ishaan Khatter and Ananya Panday starrer Khali Peeli, which premiered on the Zee5 OTT platform in October 2020. At present, he is serving as the showrunner for upcoming web-series Tandav, featuring Dimple Kapadia and Saif Ali Khan, with its trailer released earlier this week.
