Thalapathy Vijay's Master is scheduled for a grand theatrical release on January 13, for the festive occasion of Pongal. The big announcement regarding the release was made yesterday (Dec 29) and it has created a sensational buzz on social media. Theatre exhibitors and distributors have pinned high hopes on Master and it is expected to revive the theatrical business after the pandemic. Though the fans will surely be arriving at the theatres to see the film, we will have to wait and see how the family audience approach the theatres amidst the Corona scare. Master is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj of Maanagaram and Kaithi fame and has music scored by Anirudh Ravichander.

Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi plays the antagonist and his face off against Vijay is going to set the screens on fire. Vijay's decision to hold the film's release for 9 - 10 months to have a theatrical release has earned him a good name among the exhibitors and distributors. Despite getting several offers from leading OTT platforms, Vijay and the team of Master decided to release the film only in the theatres and their patient wait is now winning the hearts. Having said that, early this morning, actor Dhanush took everyone by surprise by tweeting about Master's release.

Dhanush said that Master's theatrical release is a great news for cinema and expressed his liking for the theatre culture. He also requested everyone to watch the film with all safety precautions. Dhanush's tweet read, "Vijay sir’s Master releases on Jan 13th. It’s great news for cinema lovers and I hope watching movies with friends and family helps to thrive the theatre culture once again. Nothing like a theatre experience. Please take all the safety precautions and watch the film in theatres.". This tweet from Dhanush has gone viral among the fans and it is indeed great to see this beautiful rapport between the actors. This also shows Dhanush's love for cinema and his craft.

In this scenario, Dhanush should also be appreciated since he also wanted his Jagame Thandhiram to release only in theatres. Despite being completed and all ready, Dhanush, producer Sashikanth and the makers of Jagame Thandhiram decided not to release the film on OTT platforms since the film has been made for a theatrical viewing experience. Jagame Thandhiram's release plans are yet to be known and it looks like a clear call will be taken after the theatrical reception of Master and Eeswaran. Jagame Thandhiram is directed by Karthik Subbaraj and has music composed by Santhosh Narayanan. For now, check out Dhanush's latest tweet about Master's theatrical release plans here:
