The Telugu remake of Dhanush's Asuran - Narappa starring Venkatesh in the lead role, is currently in the post production stages. The film was scheduled to release in theatres on May 13 and the fans were eagerly looking forward to seeing it on the big screen. The film's teaser had shown good promise and it looked like the makers retained the core essence of Asuran. However, the film's release has now been postponed due to the second wave of Covid 19 and the medical crisis in the country. Earlier today (April 29), the makers made the announcement regarding the postponement of the movie's release through a statement.

The press release read, "Narappa is a film that we made with a lot of dedication and hard work and your love towards the film has been overwhelming. However, we are all going through a turbulent time during this unprecedented global pandemic and hence, keeping in mind the health and safety of our beloved audience, the theatrical release of the film has been postponed. We will bring Narappa to you just when the time is right... Until then, be safe, take care of yourself and stay strong. We will all get through this together. Stay home and stay safe. #NarappaPostponed.".

We have been witnessing a lot of notable biggies pushing their release plans due to the second wave of Covid 19 and the latest to have joined that list is Narappa. The film features Priyamani as the female lead and she will be seen reprising the role played by Manju Warrier. Apart from the leads, the film also features Karthik Rathnam, Prakash Raj, Murali Sharma, Sampath Raj, Rao Ramesh, and others in supporting roles. Produced by Suresh Productions in association with V Creations (Kalaippuli S Thanu), the film has music scored by Mani Sharma and cinematography handled by Shyam K Naidu.
