Madras HC issues stay order to Amala Paul's ex-boyfriend from publishing engagement pictures
Actress Amala Paul had sought a stay restraining her alleged boyfriend, Mumbai-based singer Bhavninder Singh, from sharing their pictures on social media. Earlier this year in March, photos of the actress and Bhavninder Singh made their way online after which they were deleted within minutes, leading to a speculation that they had gotten married in a private ceremony. Now, the Madras High Court has issued a ruling in favor of Amala Paul.
According to reports, Amala Paul and Bhavninder Singh had separated after the engagement. The actress had also alleged that Bhavninder informed her that more of their pictures would be posted on the public domain. Amala then moved court saying the photos were from their engagement, but were falsely stated as from their wedding. She then sought permission to sue Bhavninder Singh, while also demanding a stay on the use of the pictures on social media. In response, the Madras High Court had then allowed the actress to file a defamation suit against Bhavninder for publishing their engagement pictures on social media and for claiming them to be from their wedding ceremony.
Amala Paul was previously married to Tamil film director AL Vijay and the couple divorced in February 2017 after two years into their marriage. She had spoken about her relationship with Bhavninder in interviews, but had not mentioned his name. In an interview with Film Companion, Amala had spoken how Bhavninder's presence had made a change in her life.
On the professional front, Amala Paul was last seen in the 2019 thriller, Aadai, which turned out to be a box office and critical success. She is now awaiting the release of her action adventure film, Adho Andha Paravai Pola, which had a teaser showcasing her fighting and stunt skills. She also announced her debut production venture Cadaver, a forensic investigational thriller, while also being said to be playing a role in the Telugu remake of the hit Netflix anthology film Lust Stories. Amala had also recently completed a chunk of filming for her Malayalam film, Aadujeevitham, opposite Prithviraj Sukumaran, under Blessy’s direction, which will feature music by Oscar-winning composer A. R. Rahman.
