A film announcement that created instant sensation among both Telugu and Tamil cinema fans was the upcoming Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa to be directed by Sukumar. The pan-Indian film being produced by Mythri Movie Makers and featuring music by Devi Sri Prasad had been announced to be releasing in five languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi, and will see South sensation Rashmika Mandanna pair up with Allu Arjun for the first time. With the coronavirus pandemic bringing a halt to production of films around the country, the shooting on Pushpa too had to be stalled indefinitely. Having said that, the makers have now announced that filming will finally be commencing on November 10, with the team releasing a special promo video that includes Allu Arjun on the makeup chair and in discussion with Koratala Siva.

Allu Arjun will be looking forward to carry on the momentum of the blockbuster success of his Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo released earlier this year, while Sukumar will want to hit the bullseye once again after the box office triumph of his period action film, Rangasthalam, released in 2018. The Pushpa team's latest pre-production promo shows crew members wearing masks, with reports stating that filming will also be carried out in the dense forests near Rajahmundry. Allu Arjun has been sporting long hair for a while now, which will most likely be given a rugged and unkempt makeover akin to the look that was teased in the first look poster unveiled earlier this year.

With the plot of Pushpa under tight wraps, there have been speculations stating the film will be an action drama revolving around the smuggling of red sandalwood. There were reports earlier in May on social media that the makers had planned to shoot a six-minute intense fight sequence in a set constructed at a huge budget of Rs. 6 crores. Sukumar, who has switched from urban stories to rustic drama over the years, tasted mammoth success with his Rangasthalam, which had Ram Charan and Samantha Akkineni undergo a makeover, apart from Anasuya Bharadwaj. Initially planned for a Diwali release this year, those plans have undergone a change and the Pushpa team will be looking to make count of the lost time in order to bring the film out in theatres sometime in mid-2021.
