Veteran music director Raam Laxman, known among fans for his work most notably in films like Maine Pyaar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Hum Saath Saath Hain, passed away at his home in Nagpur on Saturday after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 78. Raam Laxman, whose original name is Vijay Patil, had earlier got vaccinated with his second dose of COVID-19 vaccine, COVISHIELD, six days back, his son Amar Patil told news agency PTI. He said, "He had taken second dose of Covid-19 vaccine, Covishield, six days ago. There was no problem at that time but when he came home, he developed weakness. His parameters were dropping. Doctors were attending at home. He passed away at around 2 am on Saturday. He had a cardiac arrest."

The death of Raam Laxman is being mourned by fans and celebrities, with legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar paying her respects to the composer on her Twitter page. Having worked with the late music composer on several films, the veteran singer shared a picture and wrote, "Mujhe abhi pata chala ki bahut guni aur lokpriya sangeetkar Ram Laxman ji (Vijay Patil) ji ka swargwas hua. Ye sunke mujhe bahut dukh hua (I just came to know that very talented and popular musician Ram Laxman ji (Vijay Patil) is no more. I am deeply saddened after hearing this)." She went on to shower praises on the iconic composer and offered her condolences. Lata Mangeshkar tweeted, "Wo bahut acche insaan the. Maine unke kai gaane gaaye jo bahut lokpriya hue. Main unko vinamra shraddhanjali arpan karti hun.(He was a very nice human being. I have worked with him on many songs which were very popularised. I offer him my humble tribute)."

Likewise, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan too took to social media to offer his condolences to Raam Laxman's family. He tweeted, "Ram Laxman, music director of my successful films like maine pyaar kiya, patthar ke phool, hum saath saath hain, hum apke hain kaun has sadly passed away. May his soul rest in peace. Condolences to the bereaved family." Raam Laxman had been a part of the music industry for four decades and composed over 150 films in Marathi, Hindi and Bhojpuri languages.
