On March 25th, the Indian Government had announced that it would stop exporting any essential medicines to outside India, as it felt the need to be prepared to battle the ongoing COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic, that is spreading rapidly across the world. For quite some time now, the US President Donald Trump's administration has been stating that the Malaria fighting drug HydroxyChloroquine would be a "game-changer" in fighting the COVID-19 virus. Recently, Trump had appealed to India to revoke the ban on exporting the drug and supply the USA with the amount of HydroxyChloroquine that it had ordered. In a recent statement, Trump had also mentioned that he had spoken over the phone to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and that if the drugs were not exported, the would be "retaliation"!

Now, the Indian Government has relaxed the ban on the drug export and mentioned that India would be happy to share the required medicines not just with the USA, but all the other neighbouring countries, that were in need. This move has been met with blatant criticism from all quarters with people alleging that Modi has been bullied by Trump and that India has been coerced into this decision by Trump's mention of "retaliation"! However, some people have also expressed their support to the Indian government's decision to help all those in need and stated that this is a very good move. The political ramifications of this decision are yet to be seen but it is sure to create some ripples! Let's wait and watch!
