Pichaikkaran was a blockbuster film starring Vijay Antony as the lead, and the sequel of the film Pichaikkaran 2 is set to release on May 12 in theatres. The actor is also handling the direction, and editing and music direction for the project that has created excitement among fans. The film has a huge star cast with Kavya Thapar playing the female lead. The film is bankrolled by his wife Fatima Vijay Antony under his banner Vijay Antony Film Corporation and he has also co-written the film with K Palani and Paul Antony.

Vijay Antony gave an exclusive interview to Galatta media ahead of the release of Pichaikkaran 2. When asked how he handled direction and acting together in the film, Vijay Antony said “initially, the first 10 films were produced by me. So, I set the limit to my talents in acting. So, now directors who approach me do not expect more from me, they know I can only act this much and prepared the script that way. They don't ask me to do it another way, they know my limits. It was easy for me to direct others. Because if I direct you or some other person, I can see it in the frame (monitor). I can give instructions, like tilt the head a bit, and move a bit to the left or right, Don't laughs too much. All these I can control, but I had some problems, when I was directing myself. What I am doing in the frame, How the action I do will be react on screen? I am not a versatile actor right, I am managing it subtly. So, How I stand and what I do can see it afterwards. Sometimes the director will say okay when you are acting. I csn only say okay when the shot is over and I have seen it. Because, I am an actor too. There would be another person too in the frame and I would have to check if he is reacting correctly, those things I can see only after I go and see the screen. So it was like a double work for me.
