Sri marks Jyotika's big Bollywood comeback after she made her acting debut in Doli Saja Ke Rakhna (1998). The actress who won the Best Feature Film accolade as a producer along with Suriya, Rajsekar Pandian, and Guneet Monga for Soorarai Pottru (2020) at the 68th National Film Awards, had shifted her attention to films in Tamil and other South Indian languages after her start in Hindi cinema and garnered a huge fan following. Ever since the news of Jyotika returning to Bollywood in Rajkummar Rao's Sri was announced, there has been a considerable amount of excitement to witness her in action on Hindi screens.

Directed by Tushar Hiranandani, Sri was initially announced to be coming out in theatres on September 15 this year but was postponed indefinitely. The film will see Jyotika and Rajkummar Rao sharing the screen with Alaya F, and Sharad Kelkar, among others, with a teaser glimpse expected to be released soon. Prior to the release of Sri, Jyotika is also making her Malayalam cinema comeback alongside iconic actor Mammootty in the romantic drama Kaathal - The Core, which will open in cinemas on November 23. The Malayalam film is a special one for the actress' fans, who will be seeing her on the big screen after a five-year gap when she last featured as Tamil actor Karthi's sister in Thambi (2019) since her last two films Ponmagal Vandhal (2020) and Udanpirappe (2021) premiered directly on Amazon Prime Video.
