Unnaipol Oruvan releases today

South Indian superstar Kamal Haasan's bilingual flick Unnaipol Oruvan (Eenadu in Telugu), directed by debutant Chakri and produced jointly by UTV Motion Pictures and Raj Kamal Movies, releases today (September 18).

The film recently ran into legal trouble after multinational production house Pyramid Saimira filed a civil suit against Kamal Hassan for taking his fee but not completing the company's prestigious venture Marmayogi.

Though they sought a stay on the release of Unnaipol Oruvan, the Madras High Court allowed the film's release on the condition that Kamal Haasan's production house Raajkamal International furnish security amounting to half the figure in the lawsuit filed by Pyramid Saimira.

A remake of super hit Bollywood film A Wednesday, Unnaipol Oruvan has Kamal Haasan playing the role of Naseeruddin Shah, whileMohanlal plays the role of the police commissioner. Unnaipol Oruvan is distributed by Amma Arts in Andhra Pradesh. The music, distributed by Aditya Music, has been scored by Shruti Haasan.
