Maro Charitra in Tamil too

The pooja of Telugu distributor-producer Dil Raju’s latest Telugu film Maro Charitra, directed by Ravi Yadav with Varun Sandesh and debutant Anita in�the lead roles, was held at Dil Raju’s office on February 19. Dil Raju said that Maro Charitra is an adaptation of K. Balachander’s classic Maro Charitra (1979), starring Kamal Haasan and Saritha in the lead.

"The basic story and screenplay of Maro Charitra are the same, but the love and actors are new. The movie has a US backdrop; the film will be shot in the US�from�April. We are also simultaneously shooting the Tamil version in association with Gemini Film Circuit. I met K. Balachander and took his permission to remake the film," he added.

Produced by Dil Raju's newly-floated production house Matinee Entertainment, the film has popular cinematographer Ravi Yadav of Race fame making his debut as�director. According to the producer, Ravi Yadav has terrific visual sense and Maro Charitra is going to be a visual feast. After Happy Days and Kotha Bangaru Lokam, Micky J. Meyer has scored music for this film. He has recorded four songs so far.

Actor Varun Sandesh of Happy Days and Kotha Bangaru Lokam fame said that he feels blessed and privileged to act in the adaptation of Maro Charitra that involved two living legends Balachander and Kamal Haasan. "I feel good to act in Ravi Yadav’s direction. The USA shoot is going to be a different experience for me as I am brought up in USA," he added.

Veteran actor Pratap Pothan has a meaty role in this new�film, which also has Yami Gautam, Kota Srinivas Rao, Oorvashi, Naresh, Thalaivasal Vijay, Sandhya Janak and Aadarsh in the cast. The movie is presented by Sri Venkateshwara Creations.
