After a gap of long 20 years, Nagarjuna's wife and social activist Amala is making her comeback on the big screen with Sekhar Kammula's Life is Beautiful. Amala plays a mother in the film.

Amala said that she was apprehensive initially because she has not faced the camera in 20 long years. “Sekhar called and texted me a number of times. But I kept procrastinating my reply. Finally, I decided to go ahead and do the film," she added.

She last acted in 1992 and for last two decades, she got busy with her son Akhil and other social activities. Asked if she would continue to act, Amala said: "Look, as of now, I have not decided if I want to do more films or not. My decision was based on the spur of the moment. Let's see what happens in future."
