In a shocking incident, popular Telugu serial actress Sravani Kondapalli committed suicide by hanging herself inside the room in her house at Madhuranagar, SR Nagar police limits, in Hyderabad on Tuesday late night. Known primarily among fans for starring in TV serials such as Manasu Mamata and Mounaragam, the 26-year-old actress' body has since been shifted for a post mortem to the Osmania General Hospital.

As per latest reports, Sravani who had been a part of the industry for the past eight years, had resorted to such a drastic step following alleged harassment from a man named Devraj Reddy alias Sunny, after they met on the video-sharing application TikTok. Hailing from Gollaprolu in Kakinada, Devraj had reportedly befriended the actress as an orphan and had soon gotten close to her.

Addressing the media, Sravani's brother, Shiva Kodapalli, leveled allegations against Devraj stating that he threatened Sravani using certain "videos". He also added that his sister fell under severe pressure as a result of Devraj's actions, who was blackmailing her. Prior to the devastating incident, Sravani had told her family that she had to attend a shooting, but resorted to the extreme decision. A complaint of harassment against Devraj has since been lodged by Sravani's parents at the SR Nagar Police Station and have stated that he drove their daughter to commit suicide.

Sravani’s Mounaragam serial co-star Priyanka Jain took to Instagram to share her condolences and express sorrow at her death. Sharing a picture with Sravani from the Mounaragam sets, she wrote, "This wasn’t the way to go, My heart cries as I write this, Never thought that I would post it like this, Rest in peace love. I just so wish you come and hug me the way you used to, Gonna miss you forever".
