As known already, filming on Saamy Square has been ongoing for sometime in Tirunelveli. Production has reportedly been put on hold as a mark of respect to actor Vikram's father's demise.

Being directed by Hari under Shibu Thameens’ Thameens Films banner with music by Devi Sri Prasad, Saamy Square, the sequel to the 2003 blockbuster Saamy features Vikram in dual roles along with Keerthy Suresh as the female lead.

The latest on Saamy 2 is that it is being planned for a May 1 release date in line of the original film, which came out on the same date in 2003.

We had previously reported that Saamy Square will be set 29 years in the future from the events of the original film and will revolve around the conflict between Aarusamy’s (Vikram) son (also Vikram) and Perumal Pichai’s (Kota Srinivasa Rao) sons - Ravana Pichai (Bobby Simha), Mahendra Pichai (OAK Sundar) and Devendra Pichai (John Vijay).

Now, it is heard that the son character being portrayed by 'Chiyaan' Vikram in Saamy Square is named Ramasamy.

The character names of Vikram (Ramasamy) and Bobby Simha (Ravana Pichai) bears resemblance to the characters of Lord Rama and Ravana from the ancient Indian epic, Ramayana. This is indeed a sweet touch and we expect more such surprises from the makers.
