It is always a great remorse to see someone's passing. Hong Kong film director, screenwriter, and actor Chor Yuen passed away recently on 21 February 2022, at the age of 87. He has been credited with over 120 films as a director, over 70 films as a writer and over 40 films as an actor. Yuen joined the movie industry as a writer in 1956. His film debut was The Soul Stealer directed by Ng Wui. Soon he began working as an assistant director and finally debuted as a director with Chin Chien in the film Bloodshed in the Valley of Love in 1957, while Grass by the Lake (1959) was his first film in solitaire.

Born in Guangzhou in the Canton province of South China on 8 October 934, he was naturally a household name in the Honk Kong Film Industry given his vast filmography. He was later widely recognized even in Hollywood as he starred in a couple of movies with Jackie Chan who had made a name for himself in the western world. Yuen acted alongside Jackie Chan as Mr. Chu in the 1985 action crime film Police Story and reprised the same role in the 1988 Police Story 2. They also starred together in Miracles in 1989, 1992 action comedy The Twin Dragons and in the 1995 action sports film Thunderbolt. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award on 15 April 2018 which was presented at 37th Hong Kong Film Awards in Hong Kong for his great contribution towards the development of Hong Kong films.

Chor was also prominently known for the beautiful set designs of his martial arts films. His final directorial venture was for the 1986 film, Last Song in Paris, for which he also wrote the script. The last movie he acted in was 1997 for Those Were The Days and his final TV outing was for the show Armed Reaction IV on 2004.
