Neerkumizhi, a classic by director K. Balachander, starred late comedy actor Nagesh, and was one of the most acclaimed movies in his career! The latest buzz is that, Naan Avan Illai fame director Selvaa will be remaking this classic movie, with Vivek reprising Nagesh's role! We hear that Selvaa will be directing 3 movies, of which 1 will be an original script, while the remaining 2 would be remakes, with the other remake being that of the hit Bollywood movie, Malamaal Weekly. Talking about this, Selvaa said that he has been wanting to remake Neerkumizhi for a long while, and that his producers are now in the process of obtaining the remake rights, following which his dream would come to fruition. He says that old movies which the youngsters of today would not have had the chance to see, should be remade, so that they can enjoy it now, as well as that they won't be drawing comparisons with the original! Well said Selvaa! The original script is said to be based on the island of Fiji, with newcomers in lead roles!
