Former Australian cricketer Dean Jones passed away during the noon hours of today, September 24 and the news has taken everyone by complete shock. According to reports, the ace cricketer died due to a massive heart attack when he was at his hotel room, this noon. Dean Jones has been an active part of the English commentary panel of Star Sports for the ongoing IPL tournament. Dean Jones died in Mumbai, from where all the commentators of Star Sports have been working for IPL 2020. Fans have been expressing their shock on social media. He was even seen in yesterday’s (Sept 23) IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders.

Talking about his cricketing career, he has played 52 test matches and 164 ODI matches for Australia. He will be remembered for his iconic double century knock in the famous India - Australia test match that happened in 1986. Dean's impressive batting made the test match a tie. He was also a part of Australia's 1987 world cup winning team. Apart from being a renowned cricketer, Dean Jones was also an enthusiastic commentator who was always seen with full of energy and positive vibes. His demise has come as a shocker for people across the globe.

RJ Balaji who is working in the Tamil commentary team of IPL 2020 took to his official Twitter page to express his shock over Dean Jones’ demise. He said that he travelled along with Dean last night in the same car and added that he couldn’t come to terms with the reality. “Shocked and devastated to know that Dean Jones is no more. We were traveling in the same car last night. Still couldn’t believe it is true. Life is so fragile. You’ll be missed Deano.”

Similarly, Indian Captain Virat Kohli also shared his condolence message on his official social media handle. The right-handed batsman said, “Shocked to hear about the tragic loss of Dean Jones. Praying for strength and courage to his family and friends.”. Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan expressed his shock by saying that everything looked normal and fine until this morning. “I’m deeply shocked and saddened by the demise of our fellow commentator #DeanJones He was fine in the morning. I had video call with his son two days back. Everything was fine. Everything was normal. I can’t believe this #RIP”, tweeted Irfan. The entire cricket fraternity is mourning the demise of Dean Jones and it is indeed a black day for the cricket fans spread around the world.
