Actor Vemal has been a part of the Tamil film industry for more than a decade and was last seen in Kalavani 2 released in 2019. The sequel to the 2010 sleeper hit rom-com Kalavani, the film made heads turn as Vemal's popularity soared after his Pasanga the previous year. Both Kalavani and Kalavani 2 featured the actor paired up opposite Bigg Boss fame Oviya. Among the common aspects in the films were also director Sarkunam, who had also collaborated with the star for Vaagai Sooda Vaa in 2011, which went on to win the Best Feature Film National Award, including four Tamil Nadu State Film Awards.

Sarkunam has now been once again announced to be joining hands with Vemal for an upcoming venture title Enga Paattan Soththu. Promotions for the film are being carried out in a unique manner, with the title abbreviated to EPS for a better reach, as it is also the short form of current Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s name. Being produced by S. Azhagar Saamy's Makkal Arasan pictures banner, the first look poster of Enga Paattan Soththu has been revealed to be releasing on Friday as a pre-Diwali treat for fans. As of now, not much is known about the film, but reports state actress Anicka Vikhraman of the upcoming Tamil film, Jasmine, has been cast as the female lead.

Vemal will be looking to hit the bullseye with Enga Paattan Soththu as the actor's last few ventures have not fetched him favorable results at the box office, including Kalavani 2 which failed to recreate the charm and magic of the first film. The makers of EPS have managed to make fans notice with their promotion strategy for the film's title, which raised a big interest as well as curiosity. It is to be noted that Vemal also is awaiting the release of his long-delayed Kanni Raasi opposite Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, which has been directed by the Muthukumaran of Dharmaprabhu fame.
