Mersal, which released last year on Diwali, has no doubt become one of the biggest hits of last year and the most successful film in Vijay’s career.
Directed by Atlee under the Thenandal Studios Limited banner, Mersal featured 'Thalapathy' Vijay in triple roles along with Nithya Menen, Kajal Aggarwal and Samantha Akkineni as the female leads and SJ Suryah as the antagonist.
The film’s album scored by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman went on to become a chart-buster instantly upon its release.
Now, the album has hit yet another high note.
Audio label Sony Music has announced the Mersal album is now officially the most streamed album of 2017 on the audio streaming platform, Saavn.

Mersal went on to become a blockbuster with over Rs. 200 crores in terms of box office collections.
