Leading Tamil filmmaker Vignesh Shivan expressed his views about his collaboration with Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar for their upcoming film, the tentatively titled AK 62, at the Galatta Plus The Tamil Cinema Roundtable 2022. This latest discussion forum from Galatta Media has once again brought together some of Tamil cinema's biggest names to talk about films and filmmaking among whom also included directors Gautham Menon, Lokesh Kanagaraj, Halitha Shameem, and producer Archana Kalpathi, with National Award-winning film critic Baradwaj Rangan, the Editor-in-Chief of Galatta Plus, serving as the host.

During the Galatta Plus The Tamil Cinema Roundtable 2022, Vignesh Shivan opened up about his first megastar film, AK 62 with Ajith Kumar, and shed light on how it is turning out to be. The Naanum Rowdydhaan filmmaker said, "I don't have the belief in a 50-50 film. He (Lokesh Kanagaraj) has a style of his own. A director who makes action films will connect easily with a star. That's how I see it. I haven't made too many action-oriented films. My understanding or the films I have done is completely different. I cannot do Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal with a star. I need a sport like Vijay Sethupathi. If a star says, 'How can I love two women on the screen?', then it's over. So, naturally, my scripts are like that. Now, with this particular film, I have the freedom to do what I want. That is the main thing. The first instruction that came to me is, 'You do your film. You do the film you want to do freely.' So, that's why I have no pressure, whether this will work or not, there's no doubt from any side. ‘You just feel free and do whatever you want, and do your film,' is the instruction I received and I'm working under zero pressure. So, I think I'll be able to deliver something good."

AK 62 is the first time Vignesh Shivan is collaborating with Ajith Kumar under the Lyca Productions banner and will include music by Anirudh Ravichander. Announced earlier this year, production on the upcoming film is expected to begin in early 2023 and most likely after the release of the superstar's Thunivu coming out for Pongal in January.
