Blockbuster Tamil filmmaker-actor Gautham Vasudev Menon has officially confirmed that he will be playing a key role in Lokesh Kanagaraj's next, the tentatively titled Thalapathy 67, starring Tamil superstar Vijay. The revelation was made at the Galatta Plus The Tamil Cinema Roundtable 2022, a discussion forum by Galatta Media bringing together some of Tamil cinema's biggest names among whom included directors Gautham Menon, Lokesh Kanagaraj, Vignesh Shivan, Halitha Shameem, and producer Archana Kalpathi, with National Award-winning film critic Baradwaj Rangan, the Editor-in-Chief of Galatta Plus, serving as the host. 

During the Galatta Plus The Tamil Cinema Roundtable 2022 session, Gautham Menon went on to drop the bombshell news that he is indeed acting in Vijay's Thalapathy 67. Upon being queried about his next big roles in upcoming films, the hit filmmaker-actor said, "I'm not in Archana's next film and there's no chance for me to appear in Halitha's movie since she's been shooting for eight years with a particular actor." Getting an acknowledgment from Lokesh Kanagaraj, Gautham Menon then revealed, "I'm in his film (Thalapathy 67). I saw him now and since he gave me his nod to divulge this, I'm confirming it here now." Upon being asked whether he will be seen in a Vignesh Shivan film, the filmmaker-actor stated, "I'll be in his film in some form or the other." Gautham Menon's latest confirmation about his role in Thalapathy 67 has long been in speculation, with the news now being made official by the Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu director and Lokesh Kanagaraj will no doubt come as music to everyone's ears. 

Thalapathy 67 had a formal pooja held in Chennai earlier this month and an official announcement for the upcoming Vijay-starrer is expected to be made in January 2023 after the release of the actor's Varisu, which is opening in cinemas as a grand Pongal treat. Expectations are massive for Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj's second film together after their Master in 2021 went on to become a raging box-office money-spinner, with the inclusion of Gautham Menon now set to raise the excitement levels among fans.
