Veteran actress Seema Deo, who is best known for performances in iconic Hindi films like Anand (1971), Koshish (1972), and Kora Kagaz (1974), passed away in Mumbai at her Bandra residence in the early hours of Thursday, August 24, due to age-related ailments, her filmmaker son Abhinay Deo said. She was 81. According to reports, Seema had been suffering from Alzheimer's disease and is survived by her sons Ajinkya Deo and Abhinay Deo. Apart from her appearances in several notable Hindi films, Seema garnered appreciation for her work in Marathi cinema and was seen in over 80 films during the course of her career. Some of her fondly remembered starring roles include films like Jagachya Pathivar, Vardakshina, among others, and was last seen in Jivan Sandhya (2021). During an event in 2017, Seema stated that she was grateful to her mentor for her success and said, "Whatever I could achieve in my career, it’s all because of my guru Raja Paranjape. He not only taught me to act but also trained me so rigorously that it became very natural."

Seema Deo’s husband, veteran actor Ramesh Deo, a well-established name in Bollywood during the 1970s, passed away in 2022 due to a heart attack. During an interview with The Indian Express in 2011, Ramesh said that he was lucky to have met Seema recalling their love story, and shared that their first meeting was on a local train. He revealed that he was captivated by the fragrance of the mogra that she was wearing in her hair adding that he landed an important role in a film on the day they met. Seema and Ramesh tied the knot in 1963 and were married for 59 years. In 2019, Abhinay shared a picture of his parents' wedding and wrote on Twitter (now X) about their successful marriage saying, "In a day and age where friendships, relationships, love even movies are celebrated when they hit a 50 DAY mark, here is a couple that hits the 56 YEAR mark today. My parents Ramesh deo and Seema deo got married in kolhapur on 1st of July 1963. Happy wedding anniversary Aai Baba." (sic)
