Vela Ramamoorthy is a well-known actor known for acting in important roles in Tamil. The writer-turned-actor made his debut with the film Madha Yaanai Koottam. He then did important characters in various films including Komban, Paayum Puli, Rajini Murugan and so on. He is well-known for his role as Vathiyar in the hit film Sethupathi as he played the villain opposite Vijay Sethupathy. He went on to act in multiple roles that are mostly set around villages. He had also been a part of the Web series Pettakaali.
The actor Vela Ramamoorthy has also written many novels including Kuttra Parambarai which was set in the pre-independence period, Kuruthi Aatam and Pattathu Yaanai. The novel Kuttra Parambarai made headlines a few years back as the film as directors Bala and Barathiraja wanted to make the book into a film. Recently the writer gave an exclusive dine-in interview for Galatta Media. The host raised the question if he wants Kuttra Parambarai to be made into a film by Bala or Bharathi Raja. The writer Vela Ramamooorthy said “how can you give the option. I know the controversy that happened and all that has become silent now and everyone has come past it. If Kuttra Parambarai is made into a film, then it should be like Baahubali or like Ponniyin Selvan. For the book to be made into a movie on that scale there is no producer or director in Tamil. As a writer, I think Rajamouli will be apt to make it into a film because of the period it is set in and the subject of the book is that way."
Vela Ramamoorthy then revealed that "Now, we are making it into a 20-episode web series. I have written my part and it is taking time because its a huge project as it's 20 episodes and every episode is 40 minutes long. Location, casting, artist, costume everything is in progress. Though, it delayed it will be the best project." He also revealed that he is planning to write another historical novel that will be better than Kuttra Parambarai. It will be a very important story that has not been shared yet, said the writer turned actor.
