Varnam music review

Alka Film Corporation’s Varnam has Ashwathi, Giri and Monika in lead roles. Na. Muthukumar’s lyrics are set to music by Thomas Kottukkapally. The movie is directed by S.M. Raju andproduced by Ajay Chandran and Rajendran Sivasankaran. Varnam music is marketed by Think Music.

‘Danga Dungaa’ is a peppy number in Senthildas’ voice. The same song is repeated in the album in an instrumental version. The next is a slow-paced song. Swetha’s mellifluous voice combines with Karthik’s tone for ‘Kadhal Vandhaal’. The next three songs are solos. ‘Kannamoochi’ by Haricharan is a sweet-sounding song while‘Muniya’ by Jayamoorthy is a folksy tune. The song has more verbal additions thantune and ‘Vaanam Muzhuvathum’ by Naresh Iyer is a rhythmic extravaganza. The bold presence of Jayamoorthy’s voice comes out again in ‘Veerapandi Bhoomi’; Sangeetha and Beny Dayal joinlater. The next five are instrumental presentations. ‘First love’ has a romantic touch; ‘New Life’ is a refreshing harmony; ‘The Chase’ is full of drumbeats and ‘The Clash’ includes a folk touch.

Thomas Kottukkapally’s compositions capture life’s varying emotions in its tunes and rhythm.
