Lyricist Vivek penned a heartfelt statement about 'Thalapathy' Vijay on social media on Saturday, February 18. Sharing a photo of himself being kissed on the cheek by the Tamil superstar, the popular songwriter revealed on Twitter that the actor had cared for him like an elder brother, while also wishing only the best for him. Vivek wrote in his caption: "Some bonds are beyond words. In this unbelievable journey with you, u loved n cared for me like a big brother. Vivek initially boarded Vijay's Varisu as the lyricist, but later also took up the responsibility of writing the dialogues and the film's additional screenplay. The family entertainer directed by Vamshi Paidipally and produced under Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations banner has become a spectacular success, with appreciation shown for the writing department for keeping audiences on their seats throughout the nearly 3-hour duration. Vivek has been praised by many for his contribution to the screenplay and dialogues in Varisu, while also coming out on top as always on the lyrics front for the songs composed by hit music director S. Thaman, with the film's album also turning out to be a phenomenal chart-topping success.
Varisu has collected more than 300 crores in worldwide box office returns and is now officially the highest-grossing film in Vijay's career surpassing the actor's 2019 action sports drama, Bigil. For the songs, Vivek had penned peppy lyrics, which was noticed well in 'Jimikki Ponnu', which continues to reign at the top of the charts. Varisu stars Vijay and national sensation Rashmika Mandanna as the lead pair, while R Sarathkumar, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Shaam, Srikanth, Khushbu, Yogi Babu, Jayasudha, Sangeetha Krish, Samyuktha Shanmughanathan, Nandini Rai, Ganesh Venkatraman, Sriman, VTV Ganesan, John Vijay, Bharath Reddy, Sanjana appear in major supporting roles.
