Popular Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas injured himself on his stomach while shooting an action sequence for his upcoming film, Kala, being directed by VS Rohith. According to reports, he is currently under observation in the intensive care unit in a private hospital in Kochi after it was discovered that he was suffering from internal bleeding. Fans have been praying for his speedy recovery upon hearing the news of his accident and an official statement is as of now awaited in regard to the progress of his health and his response to the treatment being administered. Tovino is known predominantly among Tamil cinema fans for starring as the villain in Dhanush's 2018 smash hit, Maari 2, while he also played the lead in Abhiyum Anuvum opposite Pia Bajpai.

Tovino has risen to the top of the league in Malayalam cinema in less than a decade after his debut in Prabhuvinte Makkal in 2012. Since then, he has gone on to star as the lead in several notable films which include You Too Brutus, Onnam Loka Mahayudham, Oru Mexican Aparatha, Godha, Tharangam, Mayanadhi, Naam, Theevandi, Maradona, Oru Kuprasidha Payyan, Ente Ummante Peru, Uyare, Virus, And the Oscar Goes To..., Luca, Kalki, Edakkad Battalion 06, Forensic and most recently, Kilometers and Kilometers. Hailed as a self-made star, Tovino has become a heart-throb among the classes and the masses in Malayalam cinema and has garnered a huge fan following in quick time.

As for his film Kala, the film is touted to be about the relationship between a man and an animal. A dog named Bazigar is reportedly seen playing a vital role in the film, with actors namely Lal, Divya Pillai and Sumesh Moor forming the supporting cast. Tovino is said to be sporting a bearded look for his role in the film, which is being produced under the Juvis Productions banner, with the technical crew comprising cinematographer Akhil George and editor Livingston Mathew.

Tovino and his wife Lidiya welcomed their second child, Tahaan, earlier this year. Taking to social media, he wrote, "Can't take our eyes off our boy! We've named him ‘Tahaan Tovino’ And we'll call him ‘Haan’. Thanks for all the love and wishes. Lots of love! #dadlife #mylittleones #Izza #Tahaan #Haan."
